T1ER East NAHL Experience Weekend (NJ): Day 1

The Danbury Hat Tricks kicked their weekend off on a high note, defeating the Maine Jr. Mariners by a final score of 3-1. After a scoreless first period, the Jr. Mariners opened up scoring at the 11:43 mark in the second, their eventual only goal of the contest. The score remained 1-0 for a majority of the third period before Danbury flipped the switch at the 11:56 mark. The next five minutes would be phenomenal for the Hat Tricks as they scored three unanswered goals to claim victory for their first game of the event, all three goals being scored by various players, including the team’s learning scorer CJ Diagostino.
The New Jersey Titans improved to 5-7-0-1 on the season after taking down the Maine Nordiques by a final score of 5-4. The Titans started the game off hot, scoring two goals in the first, both goals being assisted by defenseman James Lucosky. The second period was rather busy as a total of five goals were scored, a pair coming from the Titans in addition to a trio from the Nordiques, including Maine’s Dawson Anderson who recorded one goal and one assist. During the final frame, New Jersey’s Jordan Bowman would come up clutch as the hero, scoring his second goal of the contest as the game winner at the 3:01 mark.

The Maine Nordiques and Wasatch Renegades started things off with a thrilling shootout contest, Maine coming away victorious by a final score of 3-2. During the first period, both teams were able to get on the board scoring one goal a piece, three minutes apart from one another. The second period was rather quiet as the score remained 1-1 before each team found the back of the net once again in the third, the score being 2-2 at the end of regulation. After a scoreless overtime period, things headed to a shootout. Both netminders played outstandingly as the shootout needed eight rounds to determine a winner. Amar Vukovic lit the lamp, popping the bottle right off the net to seal the deal for the Nordiques.
After coming up short during the shootout, the Renegades got back on the right foot as they defeated the Carolina Rage by a final score of 5-3. The first period didn’t see much action as neither team was able to find the back of the net. The Rage came out of the gates hot during the second, scoring just 50 seconds into the period. Wasatch would respond rather quickly, scoring a pair of goals themselves, ending the middle frame up 2-1. A flurry of goals would be scored during the third, three goals for Carolina and a pair of goals for the Renegades. The star of the game offensively would be Casen Youngman who netted a hat trick in addition to notching one assist.
