T1ER / T1EHL Invitational Day 3 Recap

18U: 

The North Jersey Avalanche remain undefeated after taking down the Milwaukee Jr Admirals by a score 3-2 in a shootout. The Avalanche opened up scoring in the first period before the Admirals made things interesting by scoring the next two goals of the contest, giving themselves a 2-1 lead mid-way through the final period. With just under one minute remaining in regulation, Egor Andreev came up huge from the Avalanche, scoring the game tying goal, his second of the weekend. After a scoreless OT session, Wyatt Ewanchyna would net the lone goal of the shootout to pick up yet another win.

CarShield enters the final day of the event with a weekend record of 2-2 after defeating Fox Motor Sports by a final score of 3-1. Logan Martinelli scored the first goal of the contest for Fox Motors as the lone goal through the first 17 minutes. CarShield would go on to have a fantastic next two periods as they scored three unanswered goals to claim victory. Alex DeGroat was the most vital offense player for the Missouri squad, scoring a pair of goals, including the game winner and a power play tally as well. With these two goals, DeGroat has scored two goals in two consecutive games. 

16U:

The New Jersey Titans and Orange County Ice Dogs took place in an intense back and forth battle as New Jersey came away victorious in overtime by a final score of 3-2. Michael Nilsen opened up the scoring at the 3:45 mark in the first to which the Titans responded with a goal of their own just moments later. The second period would almost be identical to the first as a pair of goals were scored, one coming from each squad. After a scoreless final period, things headed to overtime where Jacen Doumas netted the game winning goal on the man advantage. 

The Wasatch Renegades ended the event on a high note as they defeated the Maine Nordiques by a final score of 5-2. The Renegades came out of the gates flying scoring four straight goals to kick off the contest. Maine would go on to score the next two goals, one in the second and one in the third before Wasatch found the back of the net once more to wrap things up. Dace Rhea scored one goal on the power play in addition to notching one assist to aid his team to victory. With this two points, Rhea is over a point per game player as he has racked up 20 points in 16 games this T1ER season.

15U:

 The Orange County Ice Dogs were able to get back in the win column and end the event on a high note after defeating the Vegas Jr. Golden Knights by a final score of 3-1. The first two periods featured two goals from the Ice Dogs, giving themselves a 2-0 lead heading into the third. Vegas made things interesting, scoring the first goal of the final frame, cutting the Ice Dogs lead in half. The final goal would come at the 12:31 off the stick of Jacob Custode, his first goal of the season coming on the man advantage. 

Philadelphia Hockey Club had a fantastic game as they defeated the West Dundee Leafs by a final score of 5-1. PHC scored five consecutive goals before the Leafs broke the dreams of Philly’s shutout with just under two minutes in regulation. Both Dylan Bradley and Nicky Lento tallied a pair of goals and assists for four point games. This was the first game this T1ER season where both players had four point games, their best games to date. 

14U:

The Omaha Mastery ended the weekend with a record of 3-1 after defeating the Philadelphia Little Flyers 7-4 during their final game. After three goals were scored in the first, the second period was an absolute scoring frenzy as a total of seven goals were scored, five being from the Mastery. Four players on Omaha's roster were able to register two or more points, including the squad’s second leading scorer in Hoyt Bader. The 2010 forward had his best game of the weekend netting a hat trick, including the game winning goal in addition to tallying one assist.
