The Lincoln Stars ended the event on a high note as they bounced back into the win column after defeating the Ohio Blue Jackets by a final score of 5-1. A total of three goals were scored in both the second and third periods, the first goal coming off the stick of Cohen Hoening of the Blue Jackets. Lincoln would go on to score five unanswered goals as three players registered two or more points on the day, including Sam Kline who tallied the game winner. It’s also worth noting that the Stars netminder Canden Lentz had a fantastic showing, turning away 42 of 43 shots for a game save percentage of .977.
The Maine Nordiques picked up their first win of the event with a stellar 6-5 shootout victory over the Colorado Thunderbirds. The first two periods were an absolute scoring frenzy as a total of 8 goals were scored, the score being 5-3 in favor of Colorado heading into the final frame. With their backs against the walls, the Nords knew they had to have a huge third period if they had a shot at coming out on top and they did just that, scoring a pair of goals to tie things up. After a scoreless OT session, things would ultimately be decided in a shootout where Tygar Lister would score his second goal of the contest to send his team home victorious.
We ended this week’s event with a great game between the Omaha Mastery and Milwaukee Jr Admirals, the squad from Wisconsin coming away with a 3-2 win. Both teams were able to notch one goal a piece through the first two periods of play, all four coming from various players. The game winning goal would come at the 2:46 mark of the third period coming off the stick of Hayden Newman.
