Dixon Cup Day 3

The Championship games are set for the 14U, 15U, 16U, and 18U levels, and Championship Monday is shaping up to be an action-packed day full of excitement. 14U: Philadelphia Hockey Club will take on the Omaha Mastery to crown a winner. During the semi's, PHC had a dominant showing over the Little Flyers, coming away with an 8-4 win. Both Jason Bloor and Chris McFadden potted two goals a piece, propelling their team to victory. Meanwhile, Omaha fought hard in a tight contest with the California Wave, ultimately edging them out by a single goal. Trailing 1-0 after two periods, the Mastery came alive in the final frame, scoring all three of their goals. Asher Baron netted the game-winner and has now recorded at least one point in each of the last five games.
15U: CarShield and the Philadelphia Hockey Club will face off for the trophy in what promises to be an exciting final. CarShield battled through an intense semi-final against the Little Flyers, emerging victorious 3-2 in overtime. After trailing 2-0 heading into the final frame, CarShield rallied with two goals in the third period to tie things up, with Kaesen Graff scoring the overtime winner to secure their spot in the Championship. Meanwhile, PHC went head-to-head with the Pittsburgh Stars in a tight contest, with both teams scoring once in the first two periods, leaving the game tied 1-1. In a mostly quiet third period, Philadelphia struck twice in quick succession, with Braden Betancourt netting the game-winner.
16U: The Pittsburgh Stars will square off against CarShield in the Championship match, with both teams securing shutout victories in their semi-final games. Pittsburgh's offense was led by four different players, with Ethan Riffe contributing a goal and an assist—his first goal of the weekend. It is also worth noting that the Stars’ netminder posted his third consecutive shutout of the weekend. CarShield’s attack was fueled by Michael Buckowitz, who netted his first two-goal performance of the season. Both teams enter the match undefeated in Dixon Cup play, setting the stage for an epic showdown at 11:00 AM.
18U: The Lincoln Stars and CarShield are set to go for the final game. Lincoln fought through adversity all weekend, ultimately securing a 3-2 victory over the Pittsburgh Stars in the semi-finals. The boys in blue scored the first two goals of the game and maintained a 2-0 lead through the first two periods. Pittsburgh pushed for a comeback in the third, with three goals scored in the final frame, including a goal from the East Coast boys with under two minutes left to close the gap to one. However, Lincoln held strong as goaltender Caden Lentz remained composed, making crucial saves to seal the win. Meanwhile, CarShield had a demanding win over the Madison Capitols, coming away with a 6-2 victory. Brandon Catalano posted his second two-point performance of the day and is ready to seek revenge as his team heads back to the Championship game.
