The Danbury Jr. Hat Tricks squared off with the Long Island Gulls in an afternoon affair. Heading into this contest, the Gulls were hungry to secure their first win of the weekend, while the Jr. Hat Tricks were looking to extend their winning ways into Saturday. The matchup kicked off with Danbury striking first. At the 8:33-minute mark of the opening period, Michael Suarez finds the back of the net unassisted to give the Hat Tricks the advantage. The scoring would continue with less than a minute on the clock when Nick Funaro tallied another Danbury goal, making the contest 2-0 heading into the second frame. The middle period would feature Long Island lighting the lamp for the first time in the contest. A name you will remember from this matchup is Andrew Firth from the Gulls. The skater first tallied a goal on the man advantage to cut the Hat Tricks’ lead in half, thanks to an assist by Gavin Carlson. Danbury’s Suarez would score his second of the day when he lit the lamp at the 14:40 minute mark. Almost 10 minutes would pass of both teams trading chances when Danbury’s Anthony Papa would find the back of the net to give Danbury the 4-1 lead. With four minutes on the clock in the second, Long Island’s Firth would score thanks again to an assist by Carlson. As the contest moved into the final period, Firth would score twice within 20 seconds of each other. He would first tally his hat-trick goal and then notch his fourth of the game. Both tallies were done with the assistance of Carlson. With the contest now tied at 4-4, the Gulls looked to have made a comeback push. However, the Hat Tricks were not done offensively on the ice.  Danbury’s Nathan Nesbitt scored the game-winning goal at the 3:51 minute mark in the final period, and not far behind him was Tre Gasparino, scoring 40 seconds later for the Jr. Hat Tricks. The last goal of the contest would be the hat-trick goal for Danbury’s Suarez, helping to lift his team to a 7-4 victory. The Long Island Gulls might have fallen, but Andrew Firth spotlighted a four-goal performance, scoring every goal for his team.
