14, 15U teams take center stage on Day 1 in Blaine

The second event of the 2023-24 T1ER League season got underway on Friday at the Super Rink in Blaine, MN, with the 14 and 15U teams taking to the ice for a pair of games each. 

On Saturday, the 18 and 16U teams will join them for a full day of hockey and exposure. The event takes place from October 13-16 at the Super Rink in Blaine, Minnesota.

Seminars: Saturday is the NCAA/Junior Hockey Seminars for players and parents. In an effort to provide more opportunity to T1ER teams in Blaine during the Showcase, the North American Hockey League and the office of the Director of Player Personnel is offering an education seminar to NAPHL T1ER teams. Craig Barnett will be discussing “The Path” to NCAA Hockey. The seminar will include climbing USA Hockey Develop Ladder, the levels of USA Hockey Juniors, and NCAA opportunities within NCAA Division I, III, and ACHA hockey along with NCAA compliance.

The 45-minute presentations will be held on Saturday, October 14th at 11:00am, 1:00pm, 3:00pm, and 5:00pm at the Grand Hall of the Welcome Center, which is the building located just to the right of the Super Rink.

Craig Barnett is the Director of NCAA Compliance Education for the NAHL and the Executive Director of the ACHA. He brings a wealth of knowledge as a former NCAA Division I Head Coach and Athletic Director. 

There will be time at the end of each session for a Q&A. We believe the seminars are extremely valuable and hope that you encourage your players, parents and coaches attend.

Day 1 recaps

T1ER 14U: Omaha Mastery AAA took down the New Jersey Titans in a 9-1 final. Zoren Sobansky totalled 4 points in the contest after scoring a goal and dishing out three assists. Netminder Grady Curtis turned away 7 of the 8 shots he faced in the win. CarShield AAA edged the Oakmoor Patriots by a final score of 3-2 with a third period goal. Ryan Hill netted the game winning goal in the game. Goaltender Cameron Burie stopped 11 of the 13 shots he faced. Seattle Kraken defeated the Anaheim Ice Dogs 5-4 in overtime. Holden Tuttle netted a hat-trick and goalie Dominic Watson turned away 14 points. Omaha Mastery AAA blanked CarShield AAA, 5-0. Landon Green had a 4 point game with a hat-trick and an assist. The Anaheim Ice Dogs handed an 8-2 loss to the New Jersey Titans. Owen Shrader scored twice and recorded two assists all while netminder Mason Ollom stopped 11 shots. The Seattle Kraken defeated the Oakmoor Patriots in the overtime period, 3-2. Lucas Kornylo scored two goals including the game winner. 

T1ER 15U: CarShield AAA and the Madison Capitols went down to the wire in an overtime period where CarShield took the win, 3-2. Brady Bates netted the overtime game winner. Chase Vogelgesang backstopped 18 of the 20 shots in the game. The Esmark Stars shutout the Philadelphia Hockey Club 4-0. Joseph Moore netted two goals while goaltender Cameron Farrow posted a 24 shot shutout. After battling back to force overtime, the Philadelphia Little Flyers fell in overtime to the Oakmoor Patriots 7-6. Noah Kruger scored twice for the Patriots while goaltender Tyler Hayden stopped 13 shots. The Janesville Jets topped the New Jersey Titans, 5-1. Jack Clunn scored twice and goaltender Samuel Haas took the win in net. The Esmark Stars picked up a 1-0 win over the Madison Capitols. Joey Moore netted the lone goal of the game in the third period. Esmark netminder Cameron Farrow turned away all 25 shots in the contest. In a high scoring game, the Oakmoor Patriots defeated the Philadelphia Hockey Club 5-4. Breydon Fedderly, Matus Lukacik and Maximillian Duric all added two points in the game. Goaltender Noah Mason picked up the win in between the pipes. CarShield AAA defeated the Janesville Jets 7-1. Thomas Fair totalled 5 points with a hat-trick and two assists while goalie Chase Vogelgesang took the win in net. The New Jersey Titans won 4-2 against the Philadelphia Little Flyers. Aiden Grinshpun scored two goals and dished out an assist. Goalie Lorenzo Titanegro stopped 12 of the 14 shots he faced.
