Colorado Springs 18U forward Turner signs NAHL Tender

January 19, 2024

The Colorado Springs Tigers of the T1ER North American Prospects Hockey League 18U forward Charles Turner  has signed a North American Hockey League (NAHL) tender agreement with the Colorado Grit of the NAHL's South Division.

Turner, 17, is a seasoned NAPHL vet, playing in his fourth season in the league, all with his hometown Colorado Springs Organization. The Colorado native has played in 16 games so far this season where he has logged 10 points (6 goals, 4 assists), placing him third among skaters on the Tigers roster.

“Charlie is a very talented and high-energy player that helps drive the team daily.  He continues to work hard to check all the boxes and put himself in a position to be successful. We appreciate the confidence the Grit have shown and look forward to seeing Charlie make a great impact in the NAHL”, said Kevin Holmstrom, head coach of the Colorado Springs Tigers.

Over the course of four seasons, ranging from 14U in the 2020-21 season to 18U now, Turner has played in 51 games and logged 23 points. He also has logged 6 points in 12 playoff contests.

“Charlie is a skilled forward who gives 110% effort on every shift. We built a relationship with Charlie last year at our camp and are excited to make him a part of the Grit’s future,” said Gaven Bickford, general manager of the Colorado Grit.

He is the first player from the Colorado Springs 18U team so far this season who has signed an NAHL tender.

A tender is a contract, of sorts, a player signs announcing his intentions to play for that particular NAHL team and that NAHL team only. Once a player signs a tender with an NAHL team, his playing rights belong to that team within the NAHL and he may not be recruited by any other NAHL team. Each team is granted ten (10) tenders, which include two (2) tenders exclusively used on players from the T1ER - plus or minus any trades - which became active on November 1st. Tendered players are not eligible for the 2024 NAHL Draft.
